have a fin-tastic day, mermay challenge 2025

hi and good afternoon to all
sharing my fourth card i have entered into Stampingbella's mermay 2025 challenge, this week it's inspired by colours and i've tried to incorporate them into my night scene. a first for me next time i will be braver with the night sky and i will make sure i start with a mask were images and sky line meet up, it looks a little messy.

i have used a variety of mediums, sky, sea and my image i have used distress inks. my waves have been created by using some texture paste and i have also used my sakura glitter pens. a couple of dies, whimsabella mermaid serene seastar and mermazing sentiment set and to top it all off enjoyed the learning curve.

all it leaves me now to say is:
thanks for stopping by enjoy your day and

happy birthday mum

good morning crafters.
i'm checking in with a new birthday card that will be added to my craft fair box. a very sweet and summery design plus i challenged my self again, after my successful shellabrate card where i created a background i thought i'd create another background without the help of a few stamps, i've gone all free hand...

i was so, so please when ally was released recently and i added her to my collection and when she was delivered i had a little light bulb moment and a little seed was planted, i thought i needed to pair ally and isabelle together and voila

sketchy start..

freshly coloured image

a couple of close ups

some of the items used to create my card.

not the layout i'd imagined but it is lovely.

to start with i stamped Ally on my blank fabriano paper, masked her and then stamped Isabelle matching her up with my marker lines around their feet, place one of my circular dies over the images and drew a pencil line 3/4's of the way round to give me my boundary for colouring, i also added a fine line to where the tree line was going to be. my images and background have been coloured with distress ink. i've die cut the coloured image with a circle die and put to one side while i added my papers, stamped sentiment, ribbon, flowers and other die cuts to my base card. i've added my image to a plain off white larger circle then added foam pads and placed it to the left of my design and finally added a bow.

here is what i've used:

inks:
fade resistant dye ink: memento - expresso truffle
Tim Holtz:  distress ink
colours:
vintage photo, tattered rose, worn lipstick, antique linen, walnut stain, shaded lilac, spun sugar, victorian velvet, broken china, tumbled glass, rusty hinge, squeezed lemonade, twisted citron, mowed lawn, milled lavender, dusty concord, peeled paint, olde paper, forest moss, walnut stain.
Papers:
fabriano artistico water colour paper 140lb
Maja designs: 12" x 12" mums garden
linen card
white glitter card
7" x 7" base card
stamps:
stampingbella: tiny townie: Ally & uptown Isabelle loves ice cream, retired
sizzix: sentiments
dies:
tonic: layered circles

spellbinder
britannia: mum
miscellaneous:
double sided tape
